Some report templates are built in the ScoutSpace PDF designer. Instead of generating the PDF straight away, a designer template opens your report as editable pages, already filled in with your survey's data, so you can fine-tune it before you save it.
You can tell a designer template by its button: it shows Save & Open Designer where other templates show Save & Generate.
Open the designer
Open your survey, click Reports in the upper right corner, then click Create & View PDF Reports.
Under Templates, click the template you want to use.
Adjust the settings on each tab. Export a Report describes each one.
Click Save & Open Designer. Your settings are saved and the designer opens in a new browser tab.
Note: If the designer doesn't open, your browser may have blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for ScoutSpace and click Save & Open Designer again.
Edit your report
The designer shows every page of your report, one below the other, with your survey's name, properties and other data already in place.
Change text: double-click any text on a page and type. Select text to change its font, size, color or alignment from the toolbar at the top.
Add text: click Text on the left and choose a heading or text style.
Add shapes and lines: click Elements.
Add your own images: click Upload, upload an image from your computer, then click it to place it on the page.
Move, resize or remove: drag an item to move it and drag its corners to resize it. Use the toolbar to change its layering, transparency or lock, or to duplicate or delete it.
Pages: use the buttons above each page to move it up or down, duplicate it, delete it or add a new page.
Use the arrows in the upper left corner to undo and redo, and the zoom controls at the bottom to zoom in and out.
Your changes aren't saved as you go. Click Download when you finish, before you close the tab. If you close the tab first, your edits are lost, and the next time you open the designer it starts again from the template.
Save the finished PDF
Click Download in the upper right corner of the designer. The button shows Exporting… while your PDF is built.
ScoutSpace saves the PDF to the survey's Created Reports, named after the template, and takes you back to your survey.
Download saves the report to your survey, not to your computer. To get a copy on your computer, click Reports, then Create & View PDF Reports, and click the report under Created Reports to open it.
To share the report with your client, turn on Publish to Client in share view on its card. To rename or delete it, see Export a Report.
Tips
The designer pulls in your survey's data when it opens, so finish updating properties, spaces and photos first. If you change the survey after you've saved the report, open the designer again or reload to make a new version.
Edits in the designer only change that one report. They don't change the template or any report you've already created.
If Save & Open Designer is grayed out, the template needs a subject property. Open a property in the survey, go to Settings, and turn on Subject Property?.
