Adjust permissions to gain access to edit a survey
If you are unable to edit a survey in ScoutSpace, it is likely because you have been added as a client rather than a collaborator. To gain editing access, you need to request the survey owner to update your role. Below are the steps and details to help you resolve this issue.
Overview of User Roles in ScoutSpace
In ScoutSpace, user roles determine the level of access and permissions you have for surveys:
Collaborator: This role allows you to edit survey properties, add properties, and make other modifications.
Client: This role provides a view-only access, limiting your ability to make changes to the survey.
To edit a survey, you must be added as a collaborator with editing permissions.
Steps to Request Editing Permissions
Contact Support as request them to remove you as a client on the survey.
Contact the Survey Owner: Reach out to the owner of the survey and explain that you need editing access.
Request Collaborator Status: Specifically, ask the owner to add you as a collaborator under the "Collaborate" button at the top left of the Map View. Make sure to clarify that you may have been accidentally added as client which will not grant you the necessary permissions.
You will receive an email with a link to the survey inviting you to edit the survey.
The survey should now show in your Shared with Me folder on the user dashboard.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Still Unable to Edit After Role Update: If you still cannot edit the survey after being added as a collaborator, confirm with the customer support team that you have been removed as a client.
Unclear on how to Collaborate: If the survey owner is unsure about how to add you as a collaborator, they can refer to the ScoutSpace help documentation or contact support for guidance.
By following these steps, you should be able to gain the necessary permissions to edit the survey in ScoutSpace.
