Edit mode lets you change property, space and comp details right in the Property Database table, the way you would in a spreadsheet. Changes save as you go.
Turn on Edit mode
Open Property Database and click Table. Edit mode only works in Table view; on the map the switch is greyed out.
Pick the tab you want to edit: Properties, Available Space or Comps.
Turn on the Edit mode switch at the top of the page. A dark bar reads Edit mode — changes save automatically.
Edit mode stays on when you switch tabs. To turn it off, click Exit edit mode or the switch again.
Edit a cell
Double-click a cell, or click it and start typing. Press Enter to save or Esc to cancel. Columns with set choices, such as Availability or Type, open a drop-down, and date columns open a date picker.
These columns can be edited:
Properties: property name, Type and Submarket.
Available Space: space name, Availability, Size, Rate, Rate type, Lease type and Available.
Comps: comp name, Type, Size, Rate / Price, Tenant / Buyer and Closed.
On the Comps tab, Rate / Price is the rate for a leased comp and the sale price for a sold comp, and Tenant / Buyer works the same way. Both values are kept, so switching a comp between Leased and Sold doesn't lose either one. When you change a space's Size or Rate, its monthly cost updates too.
Spaces, Comps, Labels, Surveys, Added by and Updated can't be edited in the table. To add a label, open the property and click Add a label. For anything else, open the record and click Edit.
Work with many cells at once
Select a range: click a cell and drag across the cells you want.
Copy and paste: use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V (Cmd+C and Cmd+V on a Mac). You can paste from a spreadsheet.
Fill: drag the small square at the corner of your selection over the cells next to it.
Undo and redo: press Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo (Cmd+Z and Cmd+Shift+Z on a Mac). Undo saves the earlier value back.
When a change doesn't save
If a change can't be saved, the cell goes back to its last saved value and a message explains why. The most common reasons:
Someone else changed the record after your page loaded. The message reads "This record changed. Reload before editing." Refresh the page and make your change again.
The value isn't allowed. A name can't be blank, and sizes and rates can't be negative.
You don't have permission to edit that record. Edit mode follows the same permissions as the rest of ScoutSpace.
Tips
The first column keeps showing the photo, name and address while you edit, so you can see which property a space or comp belongs to. Only the name can be changed there.
While Edit mode is on, clicking a name doesn't open the property's details. The Add to Survey button in each row still works.
Edits change the record everywhere, including every survey it's on.
